Come join the Hattiesburg Downtown Association celebrate the 2013 Fall Art Walk
You will find many of our merchants hosting local artists, musicians and open-house activities. Main Street Books is holding their second annual Empty Bowls fundraiser for Edward Street Fellowship Center; Downtown Farmers Market vendors will have an abundant selection of fall vegetables along Main Street near Walnut Street including handmade items from a few of their artisans. Front Street is alive with activity including music at Brownstone’s and Benny’s Boom Boom Room. Oddfellows Gallery is hosting Michael Underwood’s Rainy Day People and South MS Art Association members will be in front of Kress Gallery and Coney Island. So many wonderful activities packed into an evening.
Hattiesburg Art Association is hosting Studio on the Go near Kress Gallery, this fun new interactive area gives everyone an opportunity to be the artist.
In addition to these activities, expect to find original artwork, photography and music in restaurants along with a variety good food and drink. Our restaurants and bars are now featuring locally brewed craft beer from both Gordon Creek Brewery and Southern Prohibition Brewing located in Historic Downtown. Enjoy music on the street as you make your way from one area to the next. The extended footprint of Fall Art Walk includes activities at The Thirsty Hippo featuring the art of Heidi Pitre, Mrs. Butta Bean is introducing Eartha’s Sweet Shop, The Lucky Rabbit and Calico Antique & Art have extended hours on Pine Street. Meistersingers Civic Chorus will be at Trinity Episcopal for Bachtober Fest; The Public Library is hosting Coming Home to MS book signing and readings along with the Flowers of Hope exhibit.
Don’t miss a stroll through the Historic Depot. In its’ fourth year, the All Aboard! Sculpture Exhibit continues to be a favorite show for those who enjoy the creativity of regional sculptors. Each year a piece from the show is purchased for placement in the Downtown streetscape. Be sure to stop by the reception and cast your vote for your favorite piece.
