SUMMARY:Second Annual Literary Trail to Complement StoryWalk® at the Hattiesburg Pocket Museum Alley on Saturday\, May 24th
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, May 24th\, StoryWalk will be held for the fifth straight year in the alley of the Hattiesburg Pocket Museum. The idea behind StoryWalk is to combine literacy and physical activity. To complement that concept\, a Literary Trail has been created to further promote the fun of reading and learning while moving. \n\n \n\nFor the second year\, StoryWalk will be complemented by the Literary Trail in hopes that children (accompanied by their grownups) will spend the day traveling (hopefully by foot) to designated downtown Hattiesburg locations to listen to books being read and participate in an activity at each stop. \n\nThe trail starts at the Hattiesburg Pocket Museum at 9:00 a.m. where StoryWalk is being held. The book Silly Sally will be featured. Free books will be given to the first 300 participants and staff of the Library of Hattiesburg\, Petal & Forrest Co will be promoting their summer reading program "Read Among the Stars". \n\n \n\nAt 9:30 a.m.\, the book Ferdinand the Bull will be read at Studio 522 (522 Main Street). A fun activity will be offered for participants. \n\n \n\nAt 10:00 a.m.\, at Blooms (301 McCleod) the book Miss Rumphius\, by Barbara Cooney will be read. \n\n \n\nAt 10:30 a.m. the book Warthogs Paint will be read at Singing River Art Studio (100 West Fourth Street\, Suite 20). \n\n \n\nThe next stop is at 11:00 a.m. at Nuestro Arte where the book Frida\, by Jonah Winter will be read and a fun art activity will be available for children. \n\n \n\nAt 11:30 a.m. at Twin Forks Wine and Provisions (408 Hemphill Street) the book\, The Big Cheese will be read\, and kids will receive a mini cheese cup. \n\n \n\nAnd the last stop of the Literary Trail will be at 12:00 noon at the Eureka School (410 E. Sixth Street) where children will listen to the book Hello There\, Sunshine. The children will participate in a book-themed craft. \n\n \n\nThere is no charge to participate in the Literary Trail.
