Celebrate Slithering Snake Day Fun at the Hattiesburg Zoo
Snakes take center stage at the Hattiesburg Zoo on Saturday, July 18, as guests of all ages are invited to celebrate slithering Snake Day fun with interactive animal encounters, educational demonstrations, hands-on activities, and family-friendly fun.
Regular Zoo admission applies, and Hattiesburg Zoo Annual Passes are accepted.
Throughout the day, guests will have the opportunity to discover the fascinating world of snakes while learning about their important role in our ecosystem through engaging presentations and educational activities led by the Zoo's animal care and education staff.
Highlights of Snake Day include:
- Snake Encounters every hour on the hour from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. in the Prairie Dog Plaza
- Educational Discovery Stations located throughout the Zoo featuring:
- Snake sheds and how reptiles grow
- How animal care professionals use thermal (heat) technology to support animal health and welfare
- Snake biofacts, including skulls, skeletons, and other fascinating artifacts
- Snake-themed crafts for children and families
- Snake Trivia Challenge at 12:30 p.m. at the Giraffe Pavilion, where guests can test their reptile knowledge and win fun prizes
Guests looking to make the most of their Saturday visit can also participate in several of the Zoo's popular premium animal experiences (additional fees and reservations apply), including:
- Anteater & Capybara Feeding Experience
- Sloth Experience
- Giraffe Feeding
