As a newly-chartered DAV Chapter (September 21, 2020) we are excited to be another military entity that will help our PineBelt-area Veterans while accomplishing the DAV single purpose of empowering veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity: by ensuring that veterans and their families can access the full range of benefits available to them; fighting for the interests of America's injured heroes on Capitol Hill; and educating the public about the great sacrifices and needs of veterans transitioning back to civilian life.
Our Hattiesburg DAV Chapter, a nonprofit 501c4 organization, will host a Veterans Festival (VetFest) on May 21, 2022 (Armed Forces Day) at the Town Square Park in downtown Hattiesburg. This event will provide a public and friendly outreach to allow our Veteran population a platform to showcase/canvas their services or products provided; to present them with a platform to network not only with the city and its citizens, but within the Veteran community itself, thus allowing them to connect with each other. This festival will showcase their resilience and presence to the city that they represent, to provide themselves with resources and answers that benefit their needs, provide employment opportunities for Vets and their families, and provide Veteran-to-Veteran business opportunities to better serve one another by providing the support needed to keep their dreams, their businesses, and their community strong, supported and connected.
