The Hattiesburg Zoo’s American Association of Zoo Keepers (AAZK) Chapter, Hub City AAZK, will hold a “Swifties for Snakes” event all day Saturday, October 12th throughout the Zoo.
The American Association of Zoo Keepers is a professional organization dedicated to advancing animal care, promoting public awareness, enhancing professional development, and contributing to local and global conservation through fundraising and stewardship. The Hub City AAZK has chosen the Nature Conservancy at Camp Shelby to receive the proceeds from this event. During “Swifties for Snakes”, The Nature Conservancy will be represented by staff and will have a Black Pine Snake as an ambassador animal.
Tickets to participate in the “Swifties for Snakes” events are $1 a piece or 13 tickets for $10 and can be purchased across from the Train Station.
· Education Station on snake conservation efforts – Asbury Discovery Center - FREE
· Friendship bracelet making station – Asbury Discovery Center – 1 ticket for 3 bracelets or 2 tickets for 5 bracelets
· Photo Booth with Taylor props to get your best selfie or group photo – Cabana facing splash pad – FREE
· Temporary Snake Tattoos at the Asbury Discovery Center - 1 ticket per tattoo
· Taylor themed bingo with prizes for the winners at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. at the Giraffe Pavilion – 5 tickets per game
· Dance party at the Splash Pad - Free
· Eras costume contest (come dressed as your favorite era) 1 ticket to enter the contest - most creative costume wins a prize – 2:00 p.m. at the Splash Pad
· Animal paintings for sale at the ticket booth
· Taylor themed animal enrichment throughout the Zoo - FREE
· Animal encounters throughout the Zoo - FREE
· "Getaway Bar" for Taylor themed food and beverages – Prairie Dog Pavilion
Annual Passes can be used for this day, and regular zoo admission prices apply.
