Make-A-Wishaville benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of MS

2009 Make-A-Wishaville Bash! It's time to mark your calendar for the Pine Belt area's 7th Annual Wish Maker's Summer Night Bash benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Mississippi . Our 2009 event is set for Saturday, August 15th at 7 p.m. at the Bottling Company downtown Hattiesburg.  There will be live music by Barlow Brothers & Hot Sauce, great food, and items up for bidding in a silent auction and door prizes drawn throughout the night. The mission of the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Mississippi is to grant the wishes of children with life threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Mississippi has been granting wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions for 25 years. Last year we celebrated the granting of 81 wishes, 18 of which were from South Mississippi; however, over 125 children have to wait for their wishes to be granted. Children like 8 year- old Taal from Hattiesburg who dreams of a simple family reunion on the beach with all of her brothers and sisters and Yancey from Laurel who wishes for a tropical cruise. We cannot always change the future for these children, however, according to doctors, having a wish fulfilled can be a defining point in helping a child cope with and sometimes recover from their illness. Wishes give children a new reason to hope and a new sense of strength to deal with the illness they are confronted with. For children whose days are usually filled with doctor appointments, hospital stays and medical treatments, wishes are a very special type of treatment.
