About Us

Every year, there are about 165 kids in Mississippi newly-diagnosed with a critical illness. It is our vision to grant the wish of every eligible child. Wishes are more than just a nice "thing". The impact of a wish extends far beyond a single event or a moment in time. Wish kids, parents, medical professionals, volunteers and others report that the wish experience forever impacts the lives of everyone involved. Wishes make life better for kids with critical illnesses. This simple, but powerful belief inspired the establishment of The Make-A-Wish® Foundation and drives everything we do.

A wish come true helps children suffering from critical illnesses feel stronger, more energetic, more willing and able to battle their medical conditions. For many the wish marks a turning point in their fight against their illness. Health professionals report that the wish experience works in concert with medicine to make their patients feel better emotionally and even physically. Granting wishes is crucial to promoting a better quality of life for children battling life-threatening illnesses. This is the sole reason why we grant wishes.
