History Makers, Future Shapers: An Evening of Appreciation

History Makers, Future Shapers: An Evening of Appreciation Celebrates Hattiesburg Area Educators
Free teacher appreciation event offers museum tours, refreshments, prizes and exclusive educator resources
In celebration of the incredible educators who shape the future of our community, the Sixth Street Museum District is proud to host “History Makers, Future Shapers: An Evening of Appreciation,” a special free event honoring teachers and education professionals from across the Greater Hattiesburg area on May 7th from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. at Historic Eureka School.
Designed as a welcoming and inspiring experience, this educator appreciation event will provide local teachers with an opportunity to relax, connect, and enjoy an evening created just for them. Guests will have the opportunity to experience museum tours, engaging interactive activities, refreshments, and exciting prize giveaways, while also learning more about museum resources that support classroom teaching and extend learning beyond school walls.
The event recognizes the essential role educators play in preserving the stories of the past while guiding the leaders of tomorrow.
A special highlight of the evening will be complimentary root beer floats, malts, and milkshakes from Smith’s, offering attendees a nostalgic and delicious treat as a thank-you for their service to students and families throughout their communities.
This event is open to actively employed teachers and education professionals in the Greater Hattiesburg area who are 21 years of age or older.
Please note: Educators are asked to bring their current school, work-badge or employee ID for check-in and entry.
“Teachers are truly the bridge between history and the future,” said Latoya Norman, Director of Museums. “This event is our way of celebrating their dedication, creativity, and the profound impact they make every single day.”
Educators are encouraged to attend, unwind, and discover new ways the museum can support learning through local history, storytelling, and community engagement.
Advanced reservations are encouraged, and can be made through the link History Makers, Future Shapers: An Afternoon of Appreciation.  For additional details, follow the Sixth Street Museum District’s social media channels or contact museum staff directly at 601-450-1942.  The Historic Eureka School is located at 410 E.
